On 27 September 2009, entry of the cruise ship Boudicca of the English company Fred Olsen cruises concluded the cruise ship season in the Riga Port. Boudicca is 205.47 m long, and it brought 845 passengers to Riga City.
During the cruise ship season of 2009, 88 cruise ships entered the Riga Port, which is 12 ships more than in 2008. 12 cruise ships (MSC Opera, Princess Daphne, Costa Magica, Asuka II, Baltic Princess, Tahitian Princess, Birka Paradise, Thomson Spirit, Costa Luminosa, Boudicca, Costa Mediterranea, N.G.Explorer) entered the Riga Port for the first time. Members of the Freeport of Riga Authority visited these ships to meet their captains and exchange souvenirs in an official ceremony.
67 628 tourists from 102 different countries arrived in Riga with cruise ships.
