Cruise Season 2009 in Riga port On the 27th of September 2009 the cruise ship Boudicca closed Riga port cruise season. Boudicca is operated by British cruise line Fred Olsen Cruises and is 205, 47m of length. 845 passengers came to Riga on this ship. In 2009 87 cruise ships visited Riga port that is by 11 cruise ships more than in year 2008. During the cruise season Riga welcomed 12 cruise ships (MSC Opera, Princess Daphne, Costa Magica, Asuka II, Baltic Princess, Tahitian Princess, Birka Paradise, Thomson Spirit, Costa Luminosa, Boudicca, Costa Mediterranean, N.G.Explorer) visiting for the first time. Members from the Port of Riga went onboard the ships for the plague exchange ceremony. This cruise season 67 628 passengers visited Riga. Most of the cruise passengers visiting Riga were from European countries.
Cruise ship Costa Mediterranea in the Port of Riga September 09, 2009 On September 9, 2009 Freeport of Riga welcome already third Italian cruise operator’s “Costa Crociere” cruise ship Costa Mediterranea. The ship’s lengths is 292.5m and gross tonnage – 85 619. During the visit in Riga there were 2209 passengers and 852 crew members onboard the ship.
Cruise ship Costa Luminosa in the Port of Riga September 02, 2009 On the September 2, 2009 Freeport of Riga for the first time welcomed cruise ship Costa Luminosa owned and operated by Italian company “Costa Crociere”. Costa Luminosa entered service in early May 2009. The ship’s lengths is 293m and gross tonnage – 93 000. During the visit in Riga there were 2388 passengers onboard the ship.
Cruise ship Thomson Spirit in the Port of Riga August 18, 2009 On the August 18, 2009 Freeport of Riga for the first time welcomed cruise ship Thomson Spirit owned and operated by British company “Thomson cruises”. The ship was built in 1983. Thomson Spirit lengths is 215m and gross tonnage – 33 930. During the visit in Riga there were 1311 passengers onboard the ship.
Cruise ship COSTA MAGICA in the Port of Riga May 28, 2009 On the May 28, 2009 Freeport of Riga for the first time welcomed cruise ship Costa Magica owned and operated by Italian company “Costa crociere”. The ship was built in 2004. Costa Magica lengths is 272m and gross tonnage – 102 587. It can accommodate 3788 passengers and 1068 crew. During the visit in Riga there were 2683 passengers onboard the ship.
